Established in 1991, Spinifex successfully combines Peter Schell and Magali Gelyâ€™s commitment and passion for the Barossa with their strong French connections â€“ Magaliâ€™s family were vignerons near Montpellier; while Peter has worked six vintages in southern France. Time spent in this area has fuelled their interest in making unique, hand-crafted wines. Peterâ€™s focus is on producing regional wines from Mediterranean varieties that have been grown in Australia for over 150 years: shiraz, mataro, grenache, cinsault, carignan, ugni blanc, grenache gris, marsanne and semillon. The Spinifex range displays wines rich with vineyard provenance and regionality, with a consistent â€˜house styleâ€™.
