Comments and Tasting Notes:

Rating: 97 points (2004 Vinatge)
Drink: 2006-2026
"Made from 100% Shiraz that spent 24 months in French oak (30% new), the exuberant, flamboyant 2004 The Factor offers up gorgeously pure blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with smoke, bacon fat, camphor, and graphite. Silky smooth, and, as David Powell says, “the most Barossa-like” of all his wines, it represents Powell’s rendition of a Cote Rotie. It can be drunk over the next 15-20 years."

"...kirsch liqueur, blackberries, pepper, and spice. Full-bodied, pure, heady, complex, and nuanced, it should drink well for 7-10 years."

2004 Torbreck Vintners The Factor Barossa Valley
94 POINTS
"Opaque ruby. Powerful dark berry liqueur aromas are complemented by a kaleidoscopic array of fresh and dried flowers, incense, Asian spices and vanilla. Suave and silky in texture, with explosive blackberry and mulberry flavors complemented by exotic spice and floral qualities. Finishes with superbly integrated tannins and outstanding persistence, leaving sexy spice and mocha notes in its wake."

Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar
Josh Raynolds (2007)

"Of all the Barossa Valley wineries to grab the headlines in the US, with demand pulling prices up to undreamt of levels, Torbreck stands supreme. David Powell has not let success go to his head, or subvert the individuality and sheer quality of his wines, all created around very old, dry-grown, bush pruned vineyards. Notwithstanding the depth and richness of the wines, they have a remarkable degree of finesse"
