Silence of the Lamb Heathcote Shiraz 2014
It’s Vegan, not that that should upset you, as it’s still made with respect, and praise of the grape-Gods. Just coz we didn’t harm any animals making this wine, shouldn’t deter you from having a red hot try. We notice aromas of plum and chocolate, with flavours of cherries and mixed spice, all wrapped in some velvety tannins with a nice lick of French oak. Hope you agree that this little lamb doesn’t deserve to be silenced, so go ahead and enjoy!
The 2014 vintage was moderate and pretty dry, following on from a Winter where rainfall was not too over the top. The yields weren’t great due to frosts at the time of flowering, and then we had the opposite contrast in January and February causing a mad panic by harvest. We were grateful that the grapes weathered the storms - so to speak, and revealed a brightness and vibrancy that we can now applaud.

Our winemaking philosophy is one where the full expression of fruit is focussed on, and then calls on fine oak to support its style. Grapes are de-stemmed without crushing, and then allowed to macerate on skins for a few days before innoculation, and then fermented on skins for approximately 9 days before pressing. The wine is matured for 12 months prior to bottling, with French oak of which 30% is new.
