Product Description

"The Pedro Ximnez grape is the queen of the Montilla-Moriles Denomination of Origin, and the indisputable star of the Alvear vineyards and wines. Originally from the Rhin, the grape contains the joy, warmth and sensuality of the south of Spain. The Pedro Ximenez is extremely rich in natural sugars, witch means that the wines naturally reach a strength of up to 15 degrees, without needing any alcohol to be added to increase its strength. The Pedro Ximenez is an early grape. Due to the high temperature of the summer in the southern part of Spain, the harvest takes place at the end of August or beginning of September, one month before than in the rest of Spain. The smooth, sweet wines from Alvear are the result of a careful and specific care of the Pedro Ximenez grape. These wines are one of the most complex and original ventures undertaken by the Alvear wineries. The best examples of the results of this know-how are the mythical P.X. Solera1830 and P.X. Solera 1910, which are much sought after by the lovers of Spanish sweet wine. Alvear is the only winery in the world that produces a full range of Pedro Ximnez sweet wines. Their unmistakable amber/mahogany colour is the result of the sun-dried grapes and ageing in the American oak criaderas. " - winery notes
